Darrell Bonjour Senior Elder

Darrell is the senior elder of Amarillo Deaf Church. Along with two other Deaf members, Darrell co-founded Amarillo Deaf Church (as Paramount Baptist Deaf Mission) in 1980.

Darrell has led multiple Deaf conferences, camps, and mission trips, and he is a respected leader among the Deaf in the United States. He currently serves as the president of Texas Baptist Deaf Ministries and is a c0-founding board member of Deaf Men's Conference. Darrell and his wife, Gay Lynn, raised 5 children (3 Deaf), and have 6 grandchildren. 

Melanie Lyons Children/Youth Ministry Church Administrator

Melanie serves as the Church Administrator at Amarillo Deaf Church. In the summer of 1999, Melanie began working as a summer missionary at what was then Paramount Baptist Deaf Church, and in 2000 she joined as staff. 

Melanie's responsibilities range from administrative and building logistics to children and youth ministries. She loves encouraging the children and youth of ADC to find their identity in Christ. Melanie and her husband, Brancent, have 2 children and two grandchildren. 

Mark Sturkie Elder

Mark has been an elder at Amarillo Deaf Church since 2014. For many years, he served as the director of Panhandle Council for the Deaf. In this role, Mark acted as an advocate for the Deaf community by providing interpreting services, sign language classes, and various Deaf-centered workshops. Prior to his work at Panhandle Council for the Deaf, Mark served for 19 years on staff at Silent Friends Chapel in Dallas, TX.

Mark is now retired. He and his wife, Cindy, have been members of ADC since 1994. They have 2 grown children and 2 grandchildren.

Scott Tankersley Interim Pastor

Scott Tankersley is the interim Pastor of Amarillo Deaf Church. He has been apart of ADC since the 1980’s. Scott is also a teacher and prayer intercessor. He believes that the BIBLE is the Vox Dei -Voice of God. Scott boldly confesses that the Lord Jesus Christ is his Lord and Personal Savior.

Scott served as a high school teacher/coach for 33 years and is now retired. He has been married to his wife, Angie, for 34 years and together they have 3 children and 2 grandchildren.
